Near Mint/Mint
Cards in "NM/M" condition (Grade A) are essentially "pack fresh" with no major manufacturing flaws. Only minor manufacturing imperfections such as a slight print line or suboptimal cut may be present. These card will typically grade at a 9 or better. These cards represent the highest collectible standard with virtually perfect preservation.
-
LP (+/-)
Cards in "LP" condition (Grade B) begin to show more noticeable imperfections, though nothing that would deter most collectors. These cards often display beautifully in a MGA holder, as their minor flaws typically only become apparent during closer inspection. Edge wear is more significant in this grade, and surface imperfections may be present. Minor binder dents or fingernail imprints are acceptable, but frayed edges, creases, tears, or stains are not permitted.
-
HP (+/-)
"HP" condition (Grade C) cards show significant wear. These cards exhibit substantial whitening, surface scratching, noticeable creases or dents, and staining. Cards remain in this category as long as they maintain structural integrity. While folds, tears, heavy dents, creases, or missing pieces of a card are not permitted, most other imperfections are commonly present in HP cards.

DMG
"DMG" or "Damaged" (Grade D) represents the final condition in the MGA Pre-Grade condition scale. Cards in this category often have structure-compromising issues such as heavy creases, poor surfaces, heavily frayed edges, and significant staining. Despite these flaws, DMG cards remain intact enough to be authenticated by a MGA grading specialist.
